EASTON, Mass. (June 1, 2022)- For the first time in his career, Stonehill College Baseball’s Blaine Lidsky was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings All-East Region second team, as announced by the organization on Wednesday. The teams are voted on by members of the ABCA and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Division II All-America Committee.

The ABCA All-America team was first recognized in 1949 and now includes nine divisions: NCAA Division I, II, and III, NAIA, NJCAA Divisions I, II, and III, Pacific Association Division, and high school. The ABCA, founded in 1945, is the primary professional organization for baseball coaches at the amateur level. Its over 13,000 members represent all 50 states and 25 countries. Since its initial meeting of 27 college baseball coaches in June 1945, Association membership has broadened to include eight divisions: NCAA Division I, II, and III, NAIA, NJCAA, Pacific Association Division, High School, and Youth.

Lidksy, most recently, was named to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (CCA) All-East Region Team, the program’s first selection. He was also selected for the Northeast-10 Conference All-Conference First Team at the utility spot. The All-East Region honor is also the program’s first since Kiely did so last season and the ninth overall.

Lidsky had a career year for Stonehill as the junior posted new career-highs in the following: hits (64), doubles (14), triples (2), home runs (11), RBIs (46), and stolen bases (seven). His strong season also earned him National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II East Region Hitter of the Week honors (March 17) and NE10 Player of the Week (March 14) for the first time in his career.

Lidsky was the team’s best offensive student-athlete and led the squad in multiple offensive categories including batting average (.370), on-base percentage (.421), slugging percentage (.665), home runs, RBIs, hits, doubles, triples, stolen bases, and runs scored.

As for the NE10, Lidsky finished as the conference leader in hits and was ranked within the top 10 in many categories such as home runs (second), RBIs (fourth), doubles (sixth), batting average (sixth), and slugging percentage (sixth).

Stonehill wrapped up the season 18-29 and 7-17 in the NE10. With their 18 wins, it marked the 34th time the Skyhawks have recorded 15 or more wins and have done so for the past 25 of 26 straight seasons (2020 finished 8-5 due to COVID-19).
