Stephen A Smith and Kevin Durant are feuding on Twitter after the First Take host made a controversial claim about Michael Jordan.
Celebrities having a go at each other on Twitter isn’t new. From taking subtle digs to openly calling out one’s actions, celebs often turn to the platform to express their frustrations.
Fans often side with their favourite celebs during these feuds.
Recently, it was Kevin Durant who took to Twitter to call out ESPN’s Stephen A Smith after the host shared his feelings about Michael Jordan on First Take.
What did Stephen A Smith say about Michael Jordan?
In a viral clip Kevin shared on Twitter, ESPN host Stephen argues that Michael Jordan changed “the game for the worse.”
He further argued that its players like Steph Curry that are changing it for the better now.
The 54-year-old TV personality praised Jordan before delving into his argument about him.
“My brother, the guy that I love so much that I believe is the best player to have ever played, Michael Jordan is responsible, as much as anybody, for changing the game for the worse.”
The sports analyst also explained the reasoning behind his argument, stating that Jordan had individualized the game.
“Because Michael was so phenomenal, the NBA marketed the individual and the audience gravitated towards the individual.”
He also explained that it had become more about his star power than teamwork.
Kevin Durant fires back at First Take host on Twitter
Stephen’s hot take didn’t sit well with Kevin, who shot back at him with a tweet.
The Brooklyn Nets player shared Stephen’s clip on his Twitter handle and wrote: “My theory is that guys like steve [Stephen A. Smith], skip [Bayless] and Shannon [Sharpe] have changed the game for the worse. Playas like Stephen and Michael can only push the game forward.”
Responding to Kevin’s criticism, Stephen once again explained the reasons behind his argument.
He wrote: “You’re certainly entitled to your opinion. Love both MJ @StephenCurry30. Was only alluding to MJ being so great, it enticed folks to focus on individuality instead of team. Nothing more. As for us changing the game for the worse, we disagree.
He further shot back at Kevin by saying that he and the other hosts were here to stay.
“News for you @KDTrey5. We ain’t going any damn place. For every @stephenasmith, Skip, @ShannonSharpe and others, there’s thousands more coming down the pike. We’re not going away. We multiply. Sorry!!!!” the host wrote.
