ESFA Update local authorities: 1 June 2022

1. Reminder: year-end forecast funding claim for 2021 to 2022

The year-end forecast funding claim window will open at 9am on Friday 10 June 2022. Please submit your year-end funding claim by 4pm on Wednesday 15 June 2022.The claim form will be available on Submit Learner Data.

You will need to submit a claim if you receive funds through these contracts:

  • grant funded – ESFA Adult Education Budget (AEB) (Adult Skills, Community Learning, 19 to 24 Traineeships and NSF Level 3 Adult Offer (for learners aged 23 or under))
  • grant funded – ESFA NSF Level 3 Adult Offer (for learners aged 24 or over)
  • grant funded – Advanced Learner Loans Bursary (ALLB)
  • 16 to 19 education

Once you have submitted your claim you will also be able to view it on the Manage your education and skills funding.

2. Information: coronavirus (COVID-19) mass testing funding for schools and colleges – allocations now available

Coronavirus (COVID-19) mass testing funding is available to support schools and colleges that have incurred exceptional premises-related costs.

Allocations for the period 8 January to 18 February 2022 and for the extended period 19 February to 31 March 2022 for those special settings that were required to continue testing for a longer period are now available.

3. Information: coronavirus (COVID-19) recovery premium conditions of grant and indicative rates

In December 2021, the government announced an additional £1bn for a recovery premium over the next two academic years (2022 to 2023 and 2023 to 2024). Building on this year’s recovery premium, this will help schools to deliver evidence-based approaches to support the most disadvantaged pupils.

We have published further information on pupil eligibility, indicative funding rates and use of funding for the 2022 to 2023 academic year.

We have also published updated conditions of grant for the 2022 to 2023 academic year.

4. Information: school-led tutoring – how to report your transfer of grant

Next week (commencing 6 June), we will publish guidance for local authorities on how to report your transfer of the school-led tutoring (SLT) grant to independent specials schools (ISSs).

Using the digital form, local authorities will need to provide details on which independent special schools they have transferred the grant to.

5. Information: Import/Export documents now available on ESFA Document Exchange

We have published the data used in the calculation of the import/export adjustment in the high needs national funding formula via ESFA Document Exchange.

You can find it in the Document Exchange, ‘Documents you’ve received from ESFA’ view.

We have also published a template and guidance note with information on how to notify ESFA of a data error.

6. Information: 2022 to 2023 special free school funding adjustment

We have issued a breakdown of the 2022 to 2023 financial year funding adjustments to be made to the Dedicated Schools Grant to reflect the inclusion of place funding for special free schools.

7. Information: join these webinars on approved frameworks and see how you could save money for your school
